When an area of the tooth becomes decayed, we perform an easy restoration using dental fillings. We fill the decayed portion with tooth-colored composite material, restoring full functionality to your mouth. The whole process is quick and simple, and you’ll be able to eat, speak, and bite comfortably.
In cases where the area of decay is too large to accept a traditional filling, or the tooth structure is too weak to support a composite filling, we recommend a porcelain inlay or onlay restoration. This procedure increases the stability of your tooth and is stronger than a regular filling. These restorations are made to either fill the area inside the tooth up to the cusps (inlay) or completely cover the cusps of the tooth (onlay) providing a durable porcelain restoration for previously damaged teeth.
Dental crowns strengthen your teeth when they have become weakened or damaged because of decay, endodontic therapy, or from a large filling. Crowns cover the complete tooth above the gumline. We use either metal-free or porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, depending on your unique situation. We match our ceramic crowns to the color of your natural tooth enamel. Dental bridges are an option for patients who are missing one or more teeth. We anchor our bridges by placing two crowns on the healthy teeth next to the gap. Dental bridges are custom made for each patient and stop healthy teeth from shifting.
Dental implants are an option for replacing missing teeth, and will last a lifetime when properly cared for. Whether you need to replace a single tooth or a whole series of teeth, dental implants keep your mouth healthy and functioning like normal. Dr. Shook can place and restore your implant in the comfort of our office. For more information, visit our Implant Dentistry page.
We recommend partial dentures to our patients who have some healthy teeth remaining. A partial denture will stop your healthy teeth from shifting as it fills the gaps with prosthetics that look just like your missing teeth. Partials are removable, held securely in place with metal clasps while you eat and talk. Complete dentures are an affordable option if you have lost an entire set of teeth. We offer removable dentures that can be secured using natural suction or adhesives, or by using dental implants to keep them in place.
Whenever possible, we try to save your natural tooth with endodontic therapy, more commonly referred to as a root canal. After removing all the infected or diseased dental pulp, we seal your tooth. We keep you relaxed and comfortable throughout the process, and we’re right here to assess your healing and protect your natural teeth. Our office performs anterior and premolar root canal treatments and we are happy to refer you to a specialist for more advanced cases, such as molar endodontics or retreats.
In our office, we perform minor extractions and, on occasion, we’ll even remove wisdom teeth depending on the specific situation. No matter what type of oral surgery you need, rest assured that you’re always in good hands with the compassionate care of Dr. Shook and his team.
